What are the advantages of WP Hive over WordPress MU?

Among others, here is a short list:

  • WP Hive is built as a plugin which adds the functionality to main Wordpress release, whereas Wordpress MU is a release in itself. This means that WP Hive will theoretically always be compatible with the latest versions of WordPress. In contrast, Wordpress MU is usually a few versions back.
  • WP Hive is built for simplicity. It is just plug and play – you are not required to know or write PHP or SQL code.
  • WP Hive can be used on an existing site. Once you install WP Hive, you can just add as many new blogs (theoretically an infinite number) as you would like.

Does WP Hive work for both  subdirectories and subdomains?

Yes! Just use the admin interface to add the site with the appropriate domain name and path.
