I am currently happily running WP-Hive with a few active blogs on a hosted server. I would like to switch the root domain to something different so that the blogs would be:

    blog1.domain2.com
    blog2.domain2.com

    instead of

    blog1.domain1.com
    blog2.domain1.com

Can I just switch the domain that is linked to the hosting account, or do I need to perform additional steps?

Thanks very much for any help.

does anyone know anything about this? Is it any different than just switching domains with a normal WordPress installation?

Here are the WP Hive items to update when changing the domain name:

    Web Host:
    - Point new domain name to the WP folder.

    Database:
    - Update hostname in wphive_hosts table.

    Filesystem:
    - Change pathname for ..\wp-content\wp-hive\domain.com\

Check Google for recommendations for changing domains for normal WordPress, as those will have to be followed too (SiteUrl option, etc..).

FWIW (for anyone else looking to do this), there are several more steps for this. You also need to modify values in the wphive_options field, in posts and elsewhere. Basically, google "mySQL find and replace" and replace all instances of your old URL with your new URL.

Was quite frightening there for a moment.

Thanks. That's a good tip to remind. Not to use very often but nevertheless...
