    Hi,
Once I get this plugin working (like everyone else seems to be able to), I am sure I will be a happy surfer. For now, that is still utopia...

After having read all documentation, read through the forums, installed and re-installed WordPress for many times, I am still stuck with pointing/redirecting issues.

    Hopefully someone can help me...

I have a dedicated server on which I run several websites, most under WP, some not. I run WP 2.7.1 and use C-Panel. My host is Namecheap.com

Currently I am working on a site for which I would like to use the WP-Hive plugin; the domains are
    - http://www.recreatura.com
    - en.recreatura.com

I have installed WP and WP-Hive in the main domain http://www.recreatura.com, but I cannot figure out how to point/redirect en.recreatura.com to the main installation.

If I use JC's method (of the old website) the add-on domain en.recreatura.com directs to a complete different site also hosted on my server. Even if I type en.recreatura.com/wp-admin/install.php I receive the message that WP already is installed and I should remove old tables first.

If I set up en.recreatura.com as a sub-domain where I make the root that of the main domain, it just re-directs to http://www.recreatura.com and I see the Hello World message. This is the same for the parked domain and/or redirecting them to http://www.recreatura.com.

Can someone please show me in CPanel how to point/redirect as I have no ideas anymore...

    Thanks in advance!
    Piet

When you go to the subdomain manager of your control panel, are you able to edit your subdomain (en.recreatura.com)? If so, select to edit your subdomain. Some items should come up that can be changed. One of those items should be "Path" or "Specify Path for Files," or something to that effect. It is here you would type or select your main domain (recreatura.com) since your Wordpress files are in the root directory. Then hit "Apply" or "Save Changes" or some similar command. You should then get a message about the change being successful and that the subdomain will be available once the server updates.

Once your server is updated, go to your subdomain and you should get a registration page to complete Wordpress installation.

If for some reason you are unable to edit your subdomain, contact your webhost's support department.

    I hope this helps.

FYI...my webhost (2PromoteUonline.net) uses a customized version of cPanel. What I explained in my previous post works for me. My main domain is quickfactsblog.info, and like you, Wordpress & WP Hive are in my root directory. Two of my subdomains are vitamins.quickfactsblog.info and nutrition.quickfactsblog.info.

thx for your help quickfactsblog, however, I still cannot manage it. I was indeed not able to edit the subdomain, so I deleted it and tried to set it up again.

It's now set up as follows:
    Subdomains: en
    Root Domain: recreatura.com
    Document Root: home/public_html/recreatura.com
    Redirection: not redirected

Then if I go to en.recreatura.com I automatically go to to the main domain (www.)recreatura.com

Same goes if I type in en.recreatura.com/wp-admin/install.php --> also end up on main domain: (www.)recreatura.com

I can indeed ask my host, but not sure what to ask them though.

Should I for example ask them to set up the subdomain en.recreatura.com that POINTS to main domain (www.)recreatura.com? I think they either declare me stupid or tell me that that is why I have CPanel-access in the first place... ;)

BTW I saw that your main domain quickfactsblog.info is without the www, can it perhaps have sth to do with that?

Because my main domain recreatura.com is with the www

Or am I just hallucinating now?

@quickfactsblog in your other post you write about "the subdomain should available once the server updates", what exactly do you mean by that?

ok, i discovered the problem. under my current hosting setup it is not possible to get it right. I will therefore have to change the setup and once that is done, will try again to install the hive plugin. Thanks so far for the kind support!
