Open Call for Developers
by ikailo ~ October 15th, 2008. Filed under: News.WP Hive is an open source project intended to simplify the administration of multiple WordPress sites running off a single install. As with many open source project, it is pushed forward by those who have the time to contribute and the means to support it.
Believe it or not, WP Hive is not the only thing I am working on. I have a more-than-full-time job, a consultancy business on the side, a family, and am working on an education part-time. On top of that, I am trying to build features into this project and offer support at the same time. All in all, it makes for a very busy person, and unfortunately, many things are being pushed to the backburner.
So, to be honest, I am looking for someone (or some people) to assist in moving this project forward. Someone who believes in this project and understands its potential. Someone who has just a little extra time to contribute a peice of code here or there. Someone who can write, provide assistance, or otherwise provide support for the ongoing development of this project. If YOU are that person, please contact me!
Consider this:
- There is a huge market for WP Hive. A significant percentage of WordPress administrators manage multiple sites and have a real need for a tool like this.
- The market for providing WordPress Consultancy services is increasing. More and more small businesses are offering WordPress Install services, as well as WordPress as a CMS. Small Businesses owners are also looking for simple ways to help their clients, and WP Hive can help.
- This site already gets a lot of traffic with very little marketing or effort. I’ve even received unsolicited requests for development (paid) of a more robust version WP Hive. Unfortunately, I just can’t get to doing it with all the extra stuff that I have going on.
There appears to be a great energy around this product. I definitely want to keep it moving, but I need your assistance As I’ve mentioned before (on my donate page), anyone who supports this project will receive proper recognition on this site. And who knows, maybe this opportunity could turn into a lot more??
So, if you like what you’ve seen with this project so far and have been thinking about helping out, then there is no better time to do so than right now! Please contact me at ikailo@wp-hive.com for more information.

In as much as I would like to help, I’m not a programmer/coder. How I wish I just know the ins and outs of php/mysql as well as the whole wordpress itself, so I can help you. I only know copy and paste.
I also see the potential of this project. I’m even wondering, maybe the wordpress developers should have already integrated this function into the core. This could have helped a lot of people.
Thank you for this plugin Ikailo. I hope that you’ll receive the help that you needed.
